The 2011 teen Summer Reading group filmed their version of A Tale of Desperaux by Kate DiCamillo for the 90-Second Newbery Film Festival. James Kennedy, the author who organized the contest, featured their film in his post about animal-themed Newbery books, calling it an "enthusiastic version" and saying "I like how they're always on the verge of breaking into laughter throughout the entire thing, when they're not actually laughing."
