Today's program focused on inventors and inventions. We began by reading the book Ben and Now, about that famous American Benjamin Franklin. The book explored many of his ideas and inventions that are still in use today.

Not all inventions are as successful as Ben Franklin's inventions. We viewed some examples of inventions that never did as well from the book Guess Again: More Weird &Wacky Inventions by Jim Murphy.

After we discussed the evolution of Frisbees from their pie tin beginnings, we tried our hand at making a hovercraft using a cardboard circle, empty spool and a balloon.

Two pairs of hands are helpful when fitting the balloon over the spool.

Things may not always go as planned, but it is still fun to experiment.
