| September 12- The Glorious Flight |
|
A very large group of homeschoolers gathered in the Montrose Bible Conference gym. We began our program with a reading of "The Glorious Flight" by Alice and Martin Provensen. Steven Bard, who has been building planes for over fifty years, graciously shared his expertise. He wowed us with a soaring demonstration of his four handmade gliders. Other activities included buildling a hoopster, assembling foam WWII gliders, and test flying a variety of paper airplanes. Mr. Bard explains glider principles How to handle a glider Mr. Bard gets assistance in winding the rubberband Taking off Four in the air at once Building foam gliders Building hoopsters Paper airplane test pilots take to the air Test flights are evaluated and documented
Paper Airplane Test Flights Participants tested ten different airplane designs and documented their performance. The winning plane that was rated most fun to fly was the Cobra. For instructions on building the Cobra click here.
