Puppets and Marionettes

Homeschoolers  took part in the theatrical presentation of a Japanese folk tale called The Ogre’s Staircase. The children were presented with the opportunity to show their talents using a variety of puppets including hand puppets, rod puppets, and marionettes. The play was held in the Montrose movie theater and captured on video tape.

The story began in a little farming village at the foot of a Japanese mountain.

The villagers tended to their chores.

They happily fed their flock of chickens and cared for the community garden.

The orge came down from the mountain, trampled the garden, and threatened the villagers.

Darkness fell.

The sun went down.The moon and stars arose.

Good fairies came and secretly helped the villagers.

The technical crew provided the sound effects.
