The Library is located on the main floor of a red brick Georgian building, one of the architectural landmarks of Montrose, county seat of Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania. A large collection of materials is available to the public, including books (from the latest best-sellers to baby board books), videos (both instructional and entertaining), a large collection of magazines and their back issues, audio books, cassettes, and CDs. A well-equipped reference room and computer access to electronic databases aid patrons to answer questions or research topics, and librarians are always available for help. High-speed Internet access, a scanner, CD burners, Microsoft Office programs and tutorials are all available. The library sponsors a wide variety of programs. Babies can be enrolled in "Babies and Books" and receive a bag of information and gifts, including a free board book. Small children enjoy Pre-school Story Hour. Summer Reading encourages children to read with games and prizes. Contests reward childrens' creativity, including the very popular annual "Write and Illustrate Your Own Picture Book" contest, which results in young author's works being added to the library collection. Hobby Day/Auction Night and guest speakers have been popular adult programs.
