What if you don't have the item I'm looking for?

At any of our county branches, you can request items held within the system (Forest City, Hallstead/Great Bend, Montrose, Susquehanna). If none of the county libraries have the item you want, it can almost always be requested through Inter-Library Loan. Ask your local librarian for assistance with ILL.

There is no charge to patrons for Inter-Library Loan, but it does cost staff time and postage, so we ask that you use this privilege carefully. The process can take up to 6 weeks. The loan period of ILL materials is set by the lending library. Occasionally we will be told that the materials can only be used in-house.

To request an item through ILL, you must be a current registered patron whose home library is in Susquehanna County. The item must be held by a Pennsylvania library that participates in ACCESS-PA (you can search the state-wide catalog to confirm). It must be at least a year old (brand-new items are not circulated to other libraries). Some materials (like some videos and all reference items) will not be loaned. We will call you when your item is received, or contact you if we are not able to obtain it.
