The Blueberry Festival's popular White Elephant sale will accept donations at a new location on the next two Wednesdays and Fridays, May 22, 24, 29, and 31, from 9am to 2pm , at a new location--see below. June and July dates will be announced later. Please donate only items that are in saleable condition. Jewelry and collectibles sell best. We cannot accept clothing, electronics, exercise equipment, or large furniture/appliances.

New Drop-off Location: Montrose Area High School at back maintenance building. Directions: come to school parking lot, stay right and follow along the chain link fence to the back of the school. There are two garage buildings. Go to the second larger building and stop at the first 2 bays. There will be signs. Please drop off only at the times indicated. Do not leave items outside of building.

All items for donation should be in clean sell-able condition. We are not able to accept large appliances, large furniture or exercise equipment. We are not able accept clothing - please consider Interfaith instead. We do not accept books at this location. Please drop off books for donation at the library. Please do not leave items outside nor give items to the high school staff. We cannot accept white elephant donations at the library. Please do not leave items at any other times, and do not bring them to the library--thank you!

Book donations (please click here for guidelines on acceptable donations) can be brought to the library.

We also need handcrafts of any type (don't need to be blueberry themed), which can be brought to the Montrose Library. We will also be looking for bakers and for volunteer workers. Call 570-278-1881 for more information. Thank you for your support!

ShurSave Community Rewards Benefits your Local Library
General

We were just presented with a ShurSave Community Rewards check for the amount of $3,827.70 from two local ShurSave markets: Rob's Market in Hallstead and Ray's Market in Montrose. This amount was accumulated pennies at a time over the last six months of 2012 by shoppers who registered their Gold Cards to benefit the Library and Historical Society. For each Shur-Fine and Western Family product purchased, three cents is donated to the Association at no cost to the shopper. We are so grateful for the support of the ShurSave program and Rob's and Ray's Markets, as well as the thousands of Gold Card users who have registered! If you have a Gold Card but haven't registered it, you can stop by any county library or click here to fill out a form to bring in.

Library Lottery 2013
Library Lottery

http://www.flickr.com/photos/tracy_olson/61056391/For the fifth year, you have a chance to win up to $50,000 and help the Library Building Fund at the same time. Tickets for the 2013 Library Lottery Raffle are on sale for $100 each. Tickets can be purchased by individuals, families, or groups. A ticket gives 50 chances to win one (or more!) of 50 prizes. Prize amounts range from $500 (25 awarded) to a first prize of $50,000 if all tickets sell (if not all tickets sell, the amounts are adjusted accordingly). Print the ticket application or pick one up at any county library. Your ticket will be mailed to you. For more information, view the application, call 570-278-1881, or email mkhjr@aol.com.

The drawing will be held at the Harford Fairgrounds (see map) at 3pm on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at a free picnic hosted by Cabot Oil & Gas. You do not need to be present to win--all prizes will be mailed and winners will be posted here by 7/27.

Support Drive 2013
How to help

The 2013 drive to support the Susquehanna County Historical Society and Free Library Association is underway! If you do not receive a donation card donation card in the mail, they are available at any library, or you can click here to open an Acrobat PDF version that you can print out.

Have you thought about how much money you save by using the library? Click here to find out! Isn't it time to give back?

The drive is crucial because state funding has not been restored to its previous levels. The across-the-board cuts made by the Board have prevented another budget shortfall, but only by continuing at the reduced level of service. Suggested contributions are $25 or more for individuals, families $40 or more, sustainers $100 or more, and benefactors $250 and up. Contributions of any size are welcomed. Local support is one of the factors used to determine the amount of funding provided by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania--the more local support, the more funding received. Even though state funding is reduced, the formula still applies, so it's more important than ever. Thank you!
