The Montrose Adult School is coordinating a series of five walking tours of Montrose, based on on the brochures created by the Historical Society and the Motnrose Restoration Committee. Tours are held on Sundays from 5/6 to 6/10 (excluding Memorial Day weekend) and begin at 1pm at St. Paul's Hall with an overview of the section to be covered that day. Each tour is $10, which benefits the three sponsoring organizations (the Historical Society, the Montrose Restoration Committee, and the Center for Anti-Slavery Studies); or you can take all 5 tours for $45. Please see the Montrose Adult School description for more information. |

You can now log in to the new Evergreen online catalog with your barcode and the last 4 digits of your phone number. You can view and renew your checked-out items, but please do not place online holds yet. We hope holds will be operational next week, but for now please call or visit your library to request items.
Our circulation system has been switched from the Millennium product we have used since 2002 to an open-source program called Evergreen. Thank you for your continuing patience as we learn the quirks and capabilities of the new system. This change is being organized by Commonwealth Libraries, because this will eventually be a state-wide system. As a result, all libraries will have to share borrowing policies, and they have been pre-set by the organization running the new system (see below for more details). Here are the major policy changes - Videos and DVDs circulate for 1 week.
- Fines are .25 per day for all items except DVDs (which continue at $1 per day). This means VHS tape fines have been reduced.
- Circulation notices for overdue items will be sent more quickly (7, 14, and 21 days after the due date).

We offer online language lessons through the interactive program Mango Languages. You can learn 38 languages--from Arabic to Vietnamese!--plus 15 ESL languages. Our regional district, the Northeast Library District, has decided that Mango Languages is a great service to offer to the entire district, and will be funding it beginning May 1, 2012 and continuing through June 30, 2014.
You can sign in to Mango with your library card, or set up an account and be able to track your progress. Click here or on the image below (which is also on the left of every library page), or read on for details!
