In celebration of President's Day, we had an afternoon of history, trivia, and other presidential fun.

 We began by reading the story So You Want to Be President by Judith St. George and learned many wonderful facts about the presidents from Washington through Clinton.

Presidential march music accompanied a quick round of Who was president when...

~we landed on the moon?

~the civil war began?

~we celebrated the Bicentennial?

Students found that not all the presidents had neat handwriting when they tried to match names to signatures. 

Most of our money, coins and bills, incorporate images of presidents. Students identified the presidents pictured and did a little "presidential" math. Using coins, how much is one Washington, two Jeffersons and three Lincolns worth?

Students played a variation of tic tac toe. Answers to trivia questions were matched to the correct number on the playing card. Three in a row wins!

We toured presidential monuments and identified the presidents on Mount Rushmore.

To finish the afternoon, each child put together a booklet titled If I Were President that could be completed at home.
