After reading the story Gold Fever about the California gold rush of 1849, participants mined the library for gold. With the help of a map, they searched in books and on the computer. By the end of the session they had collected leprechaun gold, learned a few facts about the metal gold, identified some gold mining tools and won't be tricked again by fool's gold.

Participants found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow and a table full of books and videos about gold downstairs in the Homeschool Resource Center.

From Goldilocks to King Midas, the library has many books that contain gold.

If you were a prospector, you would need to know a gold nugget from fool's gold.

Participants use the computer to look for gold in the library's catalog and Power Library's database "Facts on File"
