The Susquehanna County Library appreciates the generosity of the community in providing books and other materials to be sold or added to the library collection. We look through donated materials and pull anything that can be used in the libraries; everything else is sold to raise money for the county library and historical society. We gratefully accept: - hardcover and paperback books, except as below
- magazines on the following topics: art, antiques, gardening, cooking, and children's
- magazines from before 1950, except National Geographic
- audiocassettes
- CDs
- DVDs
- videos
- records (for the sale only)
- postcards
The following items cannot be accepted: - any items in poor condition (torn, dirty, mildewed--anything you wouldn't buy yourself!)
- any items with missing covers
- Reader's Digest condensed anything
- textbooks published after 1920
- magazines after 1950 EXCEPT art, antiques, gardening, cooking, and children's
- encyclopedias newer than 1920 but older than 15 years ago
We are particularly interested in: anything published before 1920 anything local the 11th, 12th, and 13th editions of the Encyclopedia Britannica
We accept books all year except for the two weeks preceding the Blueberry Festival (first Friday and Saturday in August), which is when we hold our book sale. Please bring items in clean boxes or bags. Large donations (more than one box) must be brought in during business hours (9-5, M-F) to be approved before acceptance. Please call ahead to notify us (570-278-1881).
