Auction Night

Auction Night, begun in 1999, is now the second-largest fundraiser for the Association, after the Blueberry Festival. It is held annually in the spring. It's a fun and affordable benefit auction which includes a delicious dinner. The 2013 Auction will held on Saturday, April 27th, at the VFW in Montrose, PA.

Library Lottery

This is your chance to win up to $50,000 and help the Library and Historical Society at the same time! Only 2,000 tickets will be sold. Each $100 ticket is eligible for every prize. The 2011 drawing will be held on July 23 at the Harford Fair Grounds during the Cabot picnic.

New Library Building

A new library headquarters for the county is planned for a parcel on High School Road which was donated by the Montrose Area High School. The Historical Society will be able to expand into the entire 1907 building on Monument Square, which will become a fine museum to attract visitors and residents. The fundraising campaign is underway. Construction will begin once a substantial amount of the funding has been obtained. The target is currently $4 million and donations of all sizes are needed to help pursue grants and matching funds.

Susquehanna County Reads

Susquehanna County Reads is a community reading program established by the Library along with Susquehanna County Literacy. The Library has continued SCR for a fifth session in Spring 2012. Participants are reading The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. The program will take place in March and April.

Blueberry Festival

The annual Blueberry Festival is two days of summer fun for all ages! Held on the first Friday and Saturday in August since 1980, the Festival brings thousands of people to scenic Montrose PA to enjoy blueberry everything, from ice cream to pies. Admission is free! Proceeds benefit the Susquehanna County Historical Society & Free Library Association. (If you're looking for MICHIGAN'S Montrose Blueberry Festival, click here. We do not sell vendor spaces.)
