We have restored access to two wonderful genealogy and family history databases. Heritage Quest is available to all Susquehanna County Library users by putting in the 14-digit number your library card. Ancestry must be used in a library building due to their terms of use.

The dozens of high-quality databases available for all ages through POWER Library, as well as Learning Express, are described in a new four-page brochure which you can view or print here. It is also available at your local library.

The POWER Library databases cover everything from auto repair to zoology, from current news photos to historical documents, and from second-grade reading level to graduate school. Learning Express covers dozens and dozens of standardized tests from the GED to the GRE, as well as crucial skills for middle school and up, and career tests like real estate, nursing, and cosmetology. You can also read dozens of test prep ebooks at their site.

NEW LIVE REFERENCE SERVICE, 24/7 | Print |  E-mail

Ask Here PA is a brand-new statewide service which is now available for free, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It's a web-based service (available from home or from the computers you can use free at your local library) where you can ask your questions LIVE with a real professional librarian! In most cases, Ask Here PA librarians will provide an answer online in 15 minutes or less. If your question involves lengthy research, they'll get you started and/or provide a referral for you or your question. To ask a question, just visit the Susquehanna County Historical Society & Free Library Association's website at www.susqcolibrary.org and click on the Ask Here PA logo on the left. If you supply an email address, you will be sent a transcript of the chat once you are done.

Ask Here PA joins other free library services that are invaluable for anyone doing research, from ages 8 to 108. If you're not already aware of the wealth of information available to you in the POWER Library databases, from auto repair to news photos to medical information to magazine articles, be sure to visit your local library or www.susqcolibrary.org to check it out. Students of all ages will also benefit from Learn a Test, which covers everything from elementary math, reading and writing, to real estate and cosmetology licensing! It's all available for free with your library card. For more information, email info@susqcolibrary.org or call 570-278-1881.
