Isaac Walker, a young resident of Dimock, decided to do something special for his eighth birthday. Instead of getting presents for himself, he asked his friends to give presents to the Susquehanna County Library. His parents, Kristin Sanner and Bill Walker, were supportive and proud--and the library staff and board are thrilled. "Isaac's been coming here since he was a tiny baby," says Susan Stone, Administrator/Librarian, "and we're used to him picking out dozens of books on every visit. Now he's bringing us resources to help others!" Isaac's birthday presents to us included books for the collection, toys for the children's room, and money to help support services to all county residents. "It's especially heartwarming and inspiring to see a child be so supportive when we're facing tough times with the state budget," added Mrs. Stone. Please join us in thanking Isaac and wishing him a happy eighth birthday!

An awning to protect the entrance ramp to the Hallstead-Great Bend Branch Library is now in place, thanks to generous donations of money and time in remembrance of two special people. The unsheltered ramp accumulated ice and snow, and the unprotected entrance cascaded rain and snow. With the new awning, library users can enter and leave in greater safety and comfort.
Constructed in loving memory of Jeanne E. Gula and George F. Houghton

After a study of usage patterns, the Main Library is shortening evening hours. The library will now be open until 8pm every weeknight (not 9pm). Saturday hours remain unchanged (9am to 4pm). This will conserve fuel, electricity, and staff time with minimal impact to the public. Many library services can be accessed from home 24/7, 365 days a year! |
