Pottery and art sale raised $2019! | Print |  E-mail

A jar by Chris Buffington
The Fall pottery and art sale organized by Maryanne White and Chris Buffington raised a total of $2019 for the Association, from November 21st through 25th. We thank everyone who participated, visited, and purchased art! You'll have more opportunities to admire and buy work by dozens of artists in 2013: the Spring sale will be held on April 20 and 21st, and the Fall sale is scheduled for November 27 through December 1. Mark your calendars now; the hours will be determined as the dates draw nearer. The sales are held in the Hall at St. Paul's Church (276 Church St., Montrose) and admission is free. Please spread the word!

Own a piece of Susquehanna County history by getting your copy of Third Place, a limited-editing book about beloved local artist Joe Welden. You can now purchase it at the library location in Montrose, as well as at the Butternut Gallery. The full-color, 80-page hardback has been reduced to $30, and it includes a DVD capturing Joe's story in his own words. All proceeds from the sale of Third Place go to the Library Building Fund.

Support Drive 2013 | Print |  E-mail

The 2013 drive to support the Susquehanna County Historical Society and Free Library Association is underway! If you do not receive a donation card donation card in the mail, they are available at any library, or you can click here to open an Acrobat PDF version that you can print out.

Have you thought about how much money you save by using the library? Click here to find out! Isn't it time to give back?

The drive is crucial because state funding has not been restored to its previous levels. The across-the-board cuts made by the Board have prevented another budget shortfall, but only by continuing at the reduced level of service. Suggested contributions are $25 or more for individuals, families $40 or more, sustainers $100 or more, and benefactors $250 and up. Contributions of any size are welcomed. Local support is one of the factors used to determine the amount of funding provided by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania--the more local support, the more funding received. Even though state funding is reduced, the formula still applies, so it's more important than ever. Thank you!

Used clothes and shoes benefit the library | Print |  E-mail

The Musa Stiles VFW Post 6223 has a clothing recycle bin on their premises in Great Bend, and they donate all the proceeds that come in to the Hallstead-Great Bend library location. It amounts to well over a thousand dollars a year! So if you have used clothing or shoes that don't have another home, the large red bin in the VFW parking lot is a great place to drop them off, 24/7. Thank you, and thanks especially to Musa Stiles Post 6223!
