The Susquehanna County Literacy Program and the Susquehanna County Library are once again collaborating on a community reading program. 2009 will be the third year, and participants chose My Àntonia by Willa Cather as the book. The program will take place in the fall.
My Àntonia chosen for 2009 Susquehanna County Reads
2009 will be the third year for our community reading program, Susquehanna County Reads. We are once again partnering with the Susquehanna County Literacy Program. The program will be held in the Fall--dates will be announced by summer. One hundred thirty-two people voted, and the overwhelming choice was Willa Cather's 1918 novel.
Thanks to Larry Souder of WPEL, here is an interview with Susquehanna County District Attorney Jason Legg, which aired on Saturday, February 7, 2009. Mr. Souder interviewed Mr. Legg about To Kill a Mockingbird and its influence on his career. Listen now by clicking the round PLAY button below!
If you didn't get a chance to fill out a paper survey/evaluation at one of the Susquehanna County Reads To Kill a Mockingbird events, you can now do so online by clicking here. Choose the program for which you're filling out the survey, answer whichever questions you'd like, and click Submit. Our grant-giving sponsor, the Pennsylvania Humanities Council, is very interested in getting surveys from as many attendees as possible. Any personal information you fill in (which is not required) is shared only with the PHC. Thank you!
Thanks to a Pennsylvania Humanities Council grant, this year's Suquehanna County Reads one book/one county program was a huge success, with almost 400 registrants! Read more for details.
